"Bret is friendly, punctual and professional. His knowledge of the SF climate and plant-life, as well as relevant regulations is essential in San Francisco. We decided to start with a smaller project, which involved clearing three small overgrown squares between the sidewalk and the house and planting drought resistant plants. He gave us a reasonably detailed quote (including price ranges for plants), and then met us at the local plant nursery to show us the kinds of plants that we intended to use and to solicit our feedback on color, type, etc. Once we scheduled the work, Bret and his team completed it in the amount of time allotted, and did an excellent job. We’ve received multiple compliments from neighbors and are very happy about the work that Bret did. The plants look great, and are doing well so far. Bret has been very responsive in answering my follow up questions about plant care via email. Long-story short: We will be using Bret again for future projects."

I love the irrigation system they installed. Bret designed a winding pathway after I chose the stepping stones. "Bret is extremely responsive and engaging. At our consultation, he spent an hour looking over the property and making suggestions. He brings a designer's eye to all aspects of the work, and explained his company's philosophy and process thoroughly. He gave us options for a full job bid or hourly rates, and applied no pressure at all, and promised to work with us to keep costs as low as possible. When work commenced, Bret and his crew were on time and friendly, and they did a terrific job. Our property looked better than it did when we bought the house. We work with him on a regular basis for maintenance, and plan to contract him soon for a significant redesign of our front yard. Worth every penny - great guy, good sense of humor, great crew, and terrific quality. Can't go wrong here!"

He came by our home to discuss what we had in mind for our landscaping and prepared a free estimate to include all we had initially discussed. It was beyond our budget at the time, and he was kind enough to scale it down and provide us with a beautiful privacy hedge that fit our budget. This included a difficult tree stump removal and utility check for underground city piping. I recommend Bret and his staff highly. He has a mastery aesthetic for landscaping and if you choose to work with him, you will be in for a treat. Everything was professionally done and cleaned up afterwards. These guys are the best!"

"We just completed a small garden re-design on Russian Hill in San Francisco under Bret's expert guidance. He is very knowledgeable but low-key and really fun to work with. Our site was a challenge (50+ steps to our garden) and his amazing crew cheerfully completed the job on time and on budget. They know what to do, how to do it, and get it done. They even did a little extra cleaning up and trimming things they didn't have to. The price was fair and the quality of the work was exceptional! The amount of cleanup was massive, it took them 4 to 5 hours. What a pleasant surprise. I will use them again, and again."

"We engaged Bret after our hardscaping was installed. Probably less than ideal from an overall design perspective, but Bret worked with this constraint well. His vision evolves as he goes. He didn't provide a plant plan, which caused some anxiety on my part, but in the end, I got the most important plants that I wanted and the ones he chose had a lot of character and are now filling in nicely. The irrigation system and rock cover make maintenance almost effortless. What was once an overgrown jungle of uninspiring plants when we first moved in is now our most favorite "room" in the house, one that provides us fresh veggies, lemons, avocados, apples and more!"

"Our front yard was an overgrown, neglected mess. Bret met with me about my requirements - low maintenance and color - and came back with a design that met both. The plants he chose are as deer resistant as possible, very colorful and interesting. Some I recognized and some I had never seen before. His team cleared out the old stuff and laid a lovely path down the middle of the yard, installed an irrigation system with a timer and then laid out the plants beautifully. It's been just a year now and I get compliments frequently on the yard. People are drawn to and surprised by all the color. There are very few weeds coming up now so maintenance is a breeze. His guys come in once a month to tidy up and I do very little but enjoy my front yard. Bret is a delight to work with. He explains things clearly, is patient, and accommodates my schedule when it's necessary for us to meet. I hope to continue the relationship and will enlist his help with future projects."

"Bret and his team recently landscaped our front and back yards and we couldn't be happier with the result. From start to finish we knew we were in good hands. He won us over by going over the estimate in person, line by line. It was so helpful to know what the various aspects of the job contributed to the cost so we could make informed decisions around making changes. Total transparency.
Bret also worked with us to help develop the right plan for our yard. He took our wishes into consideration when making recommendations but also offered guidance and advice when what we wanted wasn't appropriate - classic Marin yard with its own "microclimates", areas of full sun and others in full shade. They put in new grass, thoughtfully placed a lot of interesting and beautiful plants and trees, redid our walkways and irrigation, and also added boxes to grow vegetables - fun for the kids! Bret's knowledge of plants and years of experience is tremendous.
His crew always worked hard in a truly professional manner, often going the extra mile to clean up at the end of the day and make things look as nice as possible. They did a thorough job and transformed our yard into something beautiful that we can really enjoy as a family. To sum it up - honest, experienced, and dependable, not to mention a real pleasure to work with. I would recommend Bret and his team in a heartbeat."
